Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using Thunder Kitty ("the App"), you agree to these Terms. The App is published by Big Truck Labs ("we," "our," or "us"), a sole proprietorship based in Massachusetts. If you don't agree with these Terms, please don't use the App.
What Thunder Kitty is
Thunder Kitty is a macOS application that records audio from your microphone and system output, transcribes it on-device, and saves transcripts and notes as Markdown files to your Mac. Thunder Kitty requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later and Apple Silicon .
Subscription and billing
Thunder Kitty is a $10/month subscription . Here's how it works:
- Trial. New users get a 7-day free trial. No credit card is required to start the trial.
- Subscription. After the trial, continued use requires an active subscription at $10/month, billed monthly. You can cancel anytime.
- Cancellation. When you cancel, you retain full access through the end of the period you've already paid for. After that, new transcription is disabled, but you keep permanent, unlimited access to every transcript and note you created while subscribed — you can continue to open, read, edit, search, and export them in Thunder Kitty indefinitely.
- Refunds. Because we offer a 7-day free trial, we do not generally offer refunds once a subscription has begun. If the app can't run on your Mac for a technical reason we can't fix, email hello@thunderkitty.app and we'll make it right.
- Price changes. If we ever change the subscription price, existing subscribers will be notified in advance and given the option to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy , acting as Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy handles billing, applicable taxes (including VAT), and payment disputes.
Your license
While your subscription is active, you have a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Thunder Kitty on any Mac you personally use — your work laptop, your home Mac, a travel machine, etc. Your subscription covers you, not a specific device count.
Specifically:
- One subscription covers the Macs of a single person
- You may not share your subscription with other people
- You may not rent, lease, sell, transfer, or sublicense your subscription
- You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
- You may not use Thunder Kitty to build a competing product or service
- You may not use Thunder Kitty for illegal purposes or in ways that violate others' rights
Your data is yours
We claim no ownership over anything you create with Thunder Kitty — your audio, transcripts, notes, and edits are entirely yours. You can use them however you'd like.
Transcripts and notes are stored as Markdown files on your Mac. We don't have copies, and we can't recover files you've deleted.
Two-party consent and recording laws
Recording conversations is regulated by law. Some jurisdictions — including California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii — require all parties to consent before being recorded.
It is entirely your responsibility to comply with the laws wherever you and the people you're recording are located. Thunder Kitty is a neutral tool. How you use it — including whether you inform and obtain consent from other parties — is up to you.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Thunder Kitty to:
- Record people without their knowledge or consent where the law requires it
- Violate anyone's privacy, intellectual property, or other rights
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, or harm anyone
- Break any applicable law or regulation
What you're responsible for
You are responsible for:
- The computer Thunder Kitty runs on, and the backups of any files you care about
- The legality of your recordings under the laws that apply to you
- Keeping your macOS and Thunder Kitty reasonably up to date for security
What we don't warrant
Thunder Kitty is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that:
- The app will be error-free, bug-free, or uninterrupted
- Transcripts will be 100% accurate
- The app will meet every requirement you have
- The app will work with every future macOS version
Transcription quality depends on Apple's speech frameworks, audio quality, background noise, and speaker clarity. It will not be perfect.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Big Truck Labs shall not be liable for:
- Damages arising from use or inability to use Thunder Kitty
- Loss of data, transcripts, files, or recordings
- Business interruption, lost profits, or lost productivity
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
This applies even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
